Social Anxiety Keeps You From Doing the Things You’d Like to Do
Do you suffer from social anxiety and avoid social settings because they make you feel uncomfortable? Do you think that others are judging you? Do you believe that everyone else is brighter, or funnier, or more popular than you are? Having anxiety gets in the way of you having a fuller life. You’re exhausted from listening to all the dialogue going on in your head and you’re ready to work towards change. I’m Michelle Halle, a licensed clinical social worker and therapist in Lakewood, NJ and I’ve worked with lots of people who suffer from social anxiety.
Generalized Anxiety Disorder
If you have Generalized Anxiety Disorder you worry about life circumstances and expect the worst. Your worried thoughts are automatic. You worry about ordinary things like being late, not being able to finish your work, or whether you’ll find a parking spot after getting to your destination. Your worries keep you up at night. Your anxiety causes physical symptoms like insomnia, nausea, shortness of breath, dizziness and muscle tension or clenching your teeth.
It’s bad enough that you have anxiety but now you suspect that your children are demonstrating signs of it too. You’ve decided it’s time to do something about it.
It stops with you.
